Ben Affleck, who recently directed The Town, is eyeing a languishing project entitled Replay for his next directorial gig, according to Heat Vision Blog.

The project, an adaptation of a Ken Grimwood novel, has been in development since 1988, with previous writers such as Peter Hyams and Richard LaGravenese attached to adapt the book. Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts were once attached to the project as well.

The latest version was written by Jason Smilovic (Lucky Number Slevin), and it reportedly has Warner Bros. execs buzzing about tReplay once again. The story centers on a 45-year-old man who has a heart attack while trying to prevent a murder in New York City's Central Park. However, instead of dying, he's stuck in "replay," starting his life over again at the age of 18, where he uses his knowledge of the future to create a financial empire... only to "replay" at the age of 45 again, where he ends up falling in love with the murdered jogger.

No offer has been made for Ben Affleck to direct, although he has taken meetings about the project. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on Replay as soon as we have more information.
