Just over one month after Warner Bros. made the bombshell announcement that Batman was going to clash with Superman in Man of Steel 2, the studio announced yesterday that Ben Affleck is playing The Dark Knight. Today, we have word that the actor is already in training, spending two hours a day in the gym to bulk up for the role.

Henry Cavill is reprising his Man of Steel role as Superman in the sequel, which screenwriter David S. Goyer revealed last month may be called either Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman. Amy Adams is also returning as Lois Lane, along with Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Zack Snyder is directing Man of Steel 2 from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. Our report from yesterday also revealed that Warner Bros. has set a July 17, 2015 release date, although it isn't known when production will begin.
