Following yesterday's news that Emily Blunt is in talks to star in the crime thriller Sicario, Benicio Del Toro is in final negotiations to join the cast.

The story follows a Tuscon, Arizona police officer who brings two mercenaries to Mexico on a hunt to track down a powerful drug kingpin. No details have been released regarding Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro's characters. It's possible that Benicio Del Toro is playing the drug lord, since he plays the notorious cartel leader Pablo Escobar in the upcoming Paradise Lost.

Denis Villeneuve is directing from a script by Sons of Anarchy writer Taylor Sheridan, with Basil Iwanyk, Thad Luckinbill, Trent Luckinbill, Molly Smith and Edward McDonnell producing. Shooting is scheduled to commence this summer.
