There are a lot of cinematic bombs in the world. Reviewers warn everyone to stay as far away as possible. The approval ratings are in the teens, if they're lucky. The world forgets about them, and they are doomed to obscurity. However, there are those that survive the negativity and gain an audience in those that find a particular sense of humor in the mediocrity, ridiculous plots, and the blatant overacting.

Hilariously bad movies are actually some of the most fun watches when you're with your friends. While the movies' absurdities are entertaining on their own, what makes them more enjoyable is the running commentary that they generate.

So, call up everyone you know for a movie night, because here are the best bad movies that are fun to watch with friends!

10 The Wicker Man

Nicolas Cage screams "Not the bees!" in The Wicker Man
Warner Bros. Pictures

There are two Nicolas Cage movies on this list, and The Wicker Man is the first. Originally a 1973 British horror film adapted from the novel, Ritual by David Pinner, the story was re-imagined for Hollywood in 2006. The movie follows a policeman, Edward Malus (Cage) as he searches a neo-pagan island of women to find his ex-fiancee's daughter, Rowan.

While the source material is actually quite solid, the 2006 depiction of it has an approval rating of only 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is described by many as unintentionally funny due to the combination of Nicolas Cage's overacting and the absurdity of how the story is laid out. A highlight of the movie is the scene where Malus is tortured by bees, which has been turned into a popular meme.

9 Spider-Man 3

Spiderdance
Sony

Despite being the highest grossing installment of the original Raimi trilogy, Spider-Man 3 is also the most mocked. There's a lot going on in the movie with copious amounts of drama surrounding Peter's relationship with Mary Jane, as well as multiple villains being introduced. The three villains include The Sandman, his former best friend Harry, who is out to avenge the death of his father, and the disappointing version of Eddie Brock/Venom. Initially, the extraterrestrial symbiote that creates Venom attaches itself to Peter, which causes him to take a turn for the dark side, alienating everyone around him.

One of the biggest reasons that Spider-Man 3 is a horribly funny watch is the way that Maguire portrays the symbiote corrupting him. His dramatic anger, combined with an "edgy" hairstyle and newfound overconfidence, makes for quite a few scenes that border on ridiculous. The most infamous is, of course, his notorious dance scene in the jazz club that Mary Jane works at in order to make her jealous.

8 The Room

Tommy Wiseau in The Room
Chloe Productions

The Room, directed by, written by, produced by, and starring Tommy Wiseau, has been given the honor of "worst movie ever made" by multiple sources. It was actually so notoriously bad that a film based on the memoir of one of the actor's recollection of making The Room was released in 2017 titled The Disaster Artist.

The movie itself follows Johnny, a successful banker, as he navigates dealing with his fiancée having an affair with his best friend. The story involves a lot of excess drama, unnecessary violence, and many unrelated subplots that never actually get resolved.

The ridiculousness of the narrative, dialogue, and the acting caused The Room to be a cult classic. There are so many hilarious scenes in the movie, but one of the most popular highlights the overacting of Wiseau as he screams, "You're tearing me apart, Lisa!"

7 Jingle All The Way

Jingle All the Way Z
20th Century Fox

Unlike many of the other entries on this list, Jingle All The Way is meant to be a comedy. While some of the laughs that come with watching it are intentional, many others are not. The story, meant to be a satire about the commercialization of Christmas, follows mattress salesman, Howard, as he tries to track down the most popular toy of the year for his son on Christmas Eve in order to make up for his constant neglect.

The movie is extremely cheesy in its commitment to overdone tropes and Schwarzenegger is so bad at trying to be funny in it that it actually is quite funny to watch. In particular, the scene in which Howard is enraged by his overly friendly neighbor, Ted, eating his wife's cookies and snaps.

6 Super Mario Brothers: The Movie

Goomba
Buena Vista Pictures/Entertainment Film Distributors

It's been proven time and time again that video game movie adaptations are not a great idea. A poster child for that consensus is Super Mario Brothers: The Movie. It was the first attempt to give a video game a chance at the live-action big screen, and, while it was pretty hilariously awful, it did succeed in many ways. One of which was that it was a trailblazer that set the course for other videogame movie adaptations, for better or for worse.

The story revolves around the famous plumber brothers, Mario and Luigi. They live in universe that is split into two dimensions, one of humans, and one of evolved dinosaurs that includes Goomba and Koopa. After Luigi meets Daisy, they entwine themselves in stopping the efforts of King Koopa to kidnap her and bring the two worlds together for him to dominate.

Super Mario Brothers: The Movie reached cult classic status despite it's critical and financial failure. The translation of the video game characters to their live action counterparts makes for some unforgettably amusing visuals, and the lore created for the movie is comically nonsensical. One of the greatest moments in the movie is when the ridiculous-looking Goombas are dancing in an elevator.

5 Face/Off

Face/Off
Paramount

Here comes the second Nicolas Cage movie on the list: Face/Off. This movie, unlike most others, actually was a commercial and critical success. However, this doesn't mean that it isn't unintentionally funny, especially as time goes on. It boasts a ridiculous plot of an FBI agent (Travolta) and a criminal (Cage) having face transplants that wind up with them being able to impersonate each other.

There's a lot of over-the-top action, overacting from Travolta and Cage, and instantly quotable dialogue throughout the movie that makes it a fun watch. One of the most iconic lines is delivered by Cage: "If I were to let you suck my tongue, would you be grateful?"

4 Cats

james corden cats
Universal Pictures

Cats is another movie that can claim the title of "one of the worst movies ever made." Based on the massively popular Broadway musical of the same name and boasting a star-studded cast that includes Ian Mckellen, Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson, and James Cordon, it had a lot of potential. The movie follows the story of the Jellicle cats that have a talent competition to decide who gets to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be rewarded with a new life.

One of the most glaring issues that takes Cats immediately to a hilariously bad film is the sometimes naked, sometimes clothed humanoids cats with fully human hands. These cat people have a tendency to act uncomfortably sensual, giving the audience many scenes that raise the question, "why is this happening?" The most ridiculous of these scenes is when Jennyanydots (Wilson) unzips her fursuit to reveal another, different fursuit underneath after eating some humanoid cockroaches.

3 Howard The Duck

Howard the duck looks on with a disbelieving look on his face.
Universal Pictures

Far from the major cinematic universe it is today, Marvel released the first full-length feature film under its name, Howard The Duck, in 1986. The film follows the story of Howard the Duck (from Duckworld) as he is mysteriously transported to Earth, where he meets a woman named Beverly, who helps him in his efforts to try to get back to his planet. From the year of its release to 1989, the movie won four Razzie awards.

The portrayal of Howard the Duck is one of the main reasons that this movie is entertainingly bad. Despite the initial desire to have the film be animated, it ended up being live-action, which created the issue of having Howard depicted as an animatromic suit. This problem is further exacerbated when this emotionless duck suit is meant to have romantic scenes with the very human Beverly. This cross-species romance creates some of the most uncomfortably amusing scenes, including that bedroom kissing moment.

2 Sharknado

Sharknado
SyFy Films

Sharknado is the infamous SyFy movie that spawned six equally ridiculous sequels. While the following movies were meant to be comedic, the first installation was only accidentally a comedy. The movie follows a group of friends as flooding causes sharks to cause mass havoc, especially when multiple tornados come through, sucking up the sharks, and effectively create a sharknado.

The film has all of the traits of a disaster movie, but with the added absurdity of just a ridiculous amount of sharks. During its run time, it rained sharks, sharks came up from the sewer, and there were a lot of deaths due to flying shark attacks. The most memorable moment, however, is when the main character jumped into the mouth of one of the tornado sharks with a chainsaw.

1 Bee Movie

The Bee Movie
Paramount

The Bee Movie deserves the top spot on this list due to the sheer insanity of the plot. It revolves around Barry B. Benson, who flies out of the hive for the first time with the pollen jocks. He gets lost and runs into Vanessa, who saves his life, and eventually introduces him to the horrors of humans using bees and stealing their honey. Barry then sues the human race for the mistreatment of bees and the theft of their honey with devastating repercussions.

The Bee Movie became a cult classic due to the countless memes it spawned over the years. Many of them revolved around the implied romantic relationship between Vanessa and Barry. A highlight of these disturbing scenes is when Vanessa's fiancée, Ken, gets jealous of the pair and tries to kill Barry in the bathroom, resulting in Vanessa leaving him.
