Ranking as one of the funniest women in film is the expressive, bright, and humorous Melissa McCarthy. She needs no direction, though she’ll take it from her director husband Ben Falcone. She epitomizes what a free spirit embodies and does so with confidence. She finesses the set with explosive energy and keeps it going throughout the entire film. She loves what she does, and it’s clear to all that view her comedic movies.

In the midst of seriousness, McCarthy can make anyone laugh with her antics. She’s extremely in tune with her movies, making the chemistry between actors even better. She has a voice that never goes out of style and doesn’t pass up a chance to earnestly joke about her co-stars. She represents all things funny and takes initiative, making her one of the best comedic female actresses in history.

What’s more common than McCarthy’s hilariousness is the fact that her real-life husband is featured in most of the movies and television series that she leads in. Falcone is usually at the tail-end of McCarthy’s tricks on screen, causing comical terror to the one she loves most. The duo makes for a phenomenal alchemy in film, as their comfort for the other radiates throughout all cast members that they work with.

1 Bridesmaids (2011)

Universal Pictures

Bridesmaids is a Falcone cameo classic. McCarthy’s character Megan is convinced that the man sitting next to her on the plane is an Air Marshal. This man, Jon (Falcone), stays calm, cool, and collected when Megan insists on giving him the steam-heat from her undercarriage, letting him know she’s as limber as can be.

Though he refuses these attempts to get close to Megan, Jon was in fact an Air Marshal. The duo bickers back and forth about where he keeps his gun in a hilarious dialogue, ranking this one of Falcone’s best McCarthy movie cameos.

2 Tammy (2014)

Warner Bros

In Tammy, Falcone plays manager Keith Morgan who terminates her employment at the local fast-food restaurant. Tammy goes out guns blazing, literally. She flips the bird, swears buckets, calls out Falcone’s character for being an undignified dummy, and then gets attacked by a deer on her way home.

Keith holds his own while Tammy hilariously rummages through her prior workplace with no remorse, making this Falcone cameo one of his better ones.

3 The Heat (2013)

Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock in the Heat

In The Heat, Falcone plays the desperate one-night stand of McCarthy’s character Detective Mullins. Though she breaks his heart at the bar when he attempts to ask her out again, she passionately kisses him before telling her co-lead Detective Ashburn, played by Sandra Bullock, that “you don’t feed strays.”

Though a short cameo, Falcone stays confident in this classic "it’s not you, it’s me" diss. He dresses the part and wears his character well, making the viewer want to see more of the steamy love affair between him and Mullins.

4 The Boss (2016)

IMDb

The Boss may be Falcone’s shortest cameo in his wife’s films, but it was funny, nonetheless. Here, Falcone features as Marty, the accountant of McCarthy’s character Michelle Darnell. When Michelle gives Marty a hard time with her demands, he quits and lets her go as a client. This is the first tailspin into the demise of Michelle’s fortune in the film, making his careless rejection fairly epic.

5 Nine Perfect Strangers (2021)

IMDb

This eccentric Hulu series is about a 10-day wellness retreat at Tranquilium Resort. A group of nine strangers, including McCarthy as Masha, who is a troubled writer that fell victim to an online scam before her arrival. The scammer was none other than Falcone as Paul. Paul cruelly made Masha believe that his child was killed, resulting in him asking her for money. She sent him what he requested, and then he stopped all contact with her. Unfortunately, Masha was hurt in thinking she would soon be a mother, even more, she was struggling with her book deal.

Nine Perfect Strangers is probably one of Falcone’s most unique features in his wife’s on-screen roles, as he played the part of a serious antagonist rather than his usual humbled witty self.

6 Identity Thief (2013)

Another short cameo, but filled with humor all the same. When Sandy Patterson, played by Jason Bateman has his identity stolen by the titular Identity Thief Diana, played by Melissa McCarthy, the two go on a road trip adventure to find their way back to their true selves. While Diana plays most of the jokes on Sandy, Falcone still has a standout role as Tony the check-in clerk at a hotel along their way.

Falcone suggests that Sandy treat Diana better, who Sandy also calls “a functional idiot,” and he also assumes that Sandy has no genitalia, as Sandy’s disrespect for Diana makes him seem like he has none.

7 Spy (2015)

When Susan Cooper, played by McCarthy, goes undercover in Budapest in Spy, she comes across an American tourist. She was busy trying not to blow her cover, so when the tourist, played by Falcone, approached her on her street bike to ask where the nearest Popeye's Chicken joint was, she quickly pulled out her gun, ultimately chasing him away.

The energy between these two is real, and although Falcone is usually on the receiving end of McCarthy’s terrorizing humor, you can sense their attraction to each other in every scene together.

8 Thunder Force (2021)

Netflix

In the midst of creating a gene that would make ordinary people have superhuman abilities, Lydia (McCarthy) and Emily (Octavia Spencer) run into Falcone as Kenny, an innocent man at a local supermarket. He ends up being tazed until he falls unconscious while Lydia encourages her sidekick Emily saying, “You’re cooking him from the inside out!”

Thunder Force itself represents McCarthy in all her comical glory, and with Falcone by her side, the heightened sense of the film was even better.

9 Life of the Party (2018)

97A5E0FE-22C3-4AB8-90B5-D99A46E17081
IMDb

Life of the Party is all about getting back into the swing of things. When Deanna, nicknamed “Dee Rock,” played by McCarthy, has an unexpected divorce arise after finding out her husband cheated on her, she chooses to attend the same college her daughter is currently enrolled in. When Deanna decides to leave, Falcone appears in the film as an Uber driver who listens intently to Dee and her life happenings.

Again, both McCarthy and Falcone were unapologetically themselves and brought forth good chemistry in the film despite the small feature that Falcone had here. However, Falcone and McCarthy both co-wrote the script, making his inception in the film noted as intentional, per usual.

10 The Happytime Murders (2018)

Reddit

As an animated movie on Netflix, The Happytime Murders is not for the faint-hearted. It’s hilarious, explicit, raunchy, and everything that a child’s movie is not, in all the best ways possible. McCarthy leads as Detective Connie, one of the main humans in the film. Falcone features as an LAPD desk cop named Donny, who is also a human. Though the two didn’t have much commentary, Donny fit in just perfectly with the risqué concept and characteristic nature of the film, making this another one of his comical McCarthy cameos.

Bringing their humor together on screen, we can only imagine what life is like for McCarthy and Falcone off-screen. The pair make for an expected tradition in film, and when Falcone finally appears on-screen with his real-life wife, the duo delivers what is expected of their entertaining chemistry, every single time.
