Soon after, he is rescued by a group of rebellious vampires who resurrect him and give his life new meaning. So Vam is an Australian horror comedy and Shudder exclusive that can be enjoyed starting on August 23rd.

7 Alone With You

In Alone With You, all Charlene (Emily Bennett) wants is to have a nice, romantic evening celebrating her girlfriend’s homecoming. However, her apartment begins to feel less welcoming and more deadly when her girlfriend doesn’t return, and Charlene begins experiencing strange voices, shadows, and hallucinations that force her to come to terms with a truth she’s been avoiding.

Alone With You is centered mainly around Emily Bennett (also the co-writer and co-director with her husband Justin Brooks), who expertly delivers a stellar performance and shows her versatility as an actress. 6 Allegoria

A streaming service is often known for its original content and Shudder truly does not disappoint in August, promising a slew of original gruesome films. The first of those, Allegoria is available for viewing in just a few days at the beginning of the month. While Allegoria’s trailer doesn’t spoil much for the storyline, it does reveal that the film is about a group of insecure, crazy, and obsessed artists. So basically comparable to almost any famous artist. Watch as the artists experiment with madness and torture themselves, all for the love of art. The finished masterpiece hits Shudder on August 1st.

5 The Innocents

Premiering on August 18th, the Norwegian horror film The Innocents follows a group of children with mysterious powers. However, as the children begin to experiment with their powers, things soon teeter on the edge of good and evil. Sometimes, even the most innocent children can turn deadly. This Shudder exclusive promises to be haunting and eerie and will linger with you long after the credits are over.

Buckle up and get ready for a classic oldie but a goodie. In the 1996 crime-thriller/black comedy Freeway, a young but excellent Reese Witherspoon plays teenage delinquent Vanessa Lutz. After running away from her dysfunctional and abusive parents, Vanessa encounters Bob Wolverton (Kiefer Sutherland). Unfortunately for her, he is a charming, suave, yet completely insane and sadistic serial killer.

After a failed attempt at killing Bob to save her life, Bob pretends to be the victim to put Vanessa in jail. Now, she must break out, clear her name, and prevent Bob from striking again. This over-the-top dark comedy features Witherspoon as a witty, outspoken, and no-nonsense teenager in some of her best early work.

This next Shudder original film, What Josiah Saw, premieres on August 4th and follows the story of Josiah (Robert Patrick) and his damaged family who reunite at their haunted and abandoned house after Josiah experienced a series of supernatural visions. The family hopes to change their ways to correct a great wrong, but doing so means paying a great price for their past sins. What Josiah Saw looks like a bloody good time and promises to be both haunting and disturbing.

“The universe has a favor to ask…” and it’s sure to be a deadly and gruesome task! The trailer for Shudder’s upcoming new original film, Glorious, doesn’t reveal much, but it does show the viewers a series of bizarre, and disturbing images. In Glorious, Wes (Ryan Kwanten) is dealing with the aftermath of a bad breakup and is spiraling out of control. He finds himself locked inside a rest-stop bathroom and things take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious man starts talking to him from an adjacent stall. Wes soon finds himself part of something much bigger and stranger than he could ever imagine. Catch Glorious, also with J.K. Simmons, streaming only on Shudder starting August 18th.
