AMC has produced a number of hit TV series over the years, including Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, and Better Call Saul, with the latter working as a masterful spinoff series of the former. With Better Call Saul in its final season, fans of AMC wonder what hit show the channel will produce next. For those in need of a refresher, Den of Geeks put together a timeline that helps show how the Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad shows coincide with one another.

One of the many cross-over characters includes Jonathan Banks’ Mike Ehrmantraut and Giancarlo Esposito’s Gus Fring, who is a popular character within the universe though not much is known about him. Bob Odenkirk, the main character in Better Call Saul, was also in Breaking Bad, though his character was called Saul Goodman as opposed to Jimmy McGill in Better Call Saul.

At this time, we are halfway through the show’s last season and fans are still anxiously awaiting a few plot lines that need to be resolved before the show reaches its finale. The rest of the season resumes on July 11, 2022, and will showcase a new episode a week until August 15, 2022. Until then, let’s look at some of the other roles you’ve seen the Better Call Saul cast play.

Bob Odenkirk is of course also known for his large appearance in Breaking Bad. His character, Saul Goodman, first appeared in the eighth episode in season two and became a series regular from season three until the show's final season. Before Breaking Bad, Odenkirk starred in a few TV series, such as an eight-episode arc in How I Met Your Mother, and in supporting roles in movies like The Spectacular Now, Take Me Home Tonight, and Nebraska.

Odenkirk has been in Better Call Saul since the show's first episode in 2015. During the time he starred as Jimmy McGill, he has also starred in various other movies and shows. A few of those movies include roles in Nobody, Little Women (2019), Incredibles 2, The Post, and The Disaster Artist. Odenkirk is currently in another TV series entitled Undone, an Amazon Prime Video animated series that currently finished its second season this past April.

The private investigator/hitman Mike Ehrmantraut, played by Jonathan Banks, is notorious in the Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul universe. The actor himself has starred in both TV series, as well as the Breaking Bad feature-length film, El Camino. While the actor is most famous for his character in this universe, he has starred in a handful of other films and TV series.

As far as TV series go, Banks has plenty of different kinds of shows in his filmography. His long-standing shows include F is For Family, A Tale of Dark & Grimm, and Skylanders Academy. He has also starred in Day Break, Community, and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. It seems Banks prefers TV series to films, although he has appeared in a few popular films such as Horrible Bosses 2, Mudbound, and Incredibles 2.

As the lone woman lead role, Rhea Seehorn has made her portrayal of Kim Wexler a top performance in her career. Outside of Better Call Saul, Seehorn has appeared in both TV series and films. Most of her most notable TV appearances are in series like The Harper House, Veep, and Whitney. She has also made appearances in shows like The Twilight Zone (2019), Franklin & Bash, I'm With Her, and Ridley Jones.

Throughout the actress' career, she has appeared in a few films including The Shaggy Dog, I Hate Kids, and Netflix's Things Heard & Seen, which was just released last year in 2021. With nothing else officially announced for the actress after wrapping on Better Call Saul in August, fans of Seehorn will be anxiously awaiting to see her in her next iconic role.

Patrick Fabian

Better Call Saul Season 6 - Howard Hamlin
Sony Pictures Television

Howard Hamlin, played by Patrick Fabian, is the long-time antagonist for Jimmy McGill (Odenkirk) in Better Call Saul. While the character has been in the 39-time Emmy-nominated show since its beginning, the actor himself has starred in only a handful of shows and films as popular as Better Call Saul. Since 1992, Fabian has had reoccurring roles in TV series like Saved By The Bell: The College Years, Xena: Warrior Princess, Time of Your Life, Providence, Joan of Arcadia, Veronica Mars, Valentine, Big Love, Working Class, Gigantic, Grey's Anatomy, and Special.

In Fabian's most recent project, outside of Better Call Saul, he starred in a reccurring role in Gordita Chronicles, a TV series streaming on HBO Max about a Latina reporter looking back at her crazy life. Fabian can be seen again in the upcoming films, Snow Falls and The Other Zoey.

Nacho Varga befriended Jimmy McGill early on in Better Call Saul and then was forced into becoming a mole for bad guy Gus Fring. Varga is played by Michael Mando, the last of the cast members to have appeared in all 63 episodes in the series. Outside of the show, Mando has starred in a handful of other shows and films including a small role in Marvel's Spider-Man: Homecoming as Mac Gargan. He has also appeared in the 2018 film, The Hummingbird Project, and in a reccurring role in the 2013 series Orphan Black. While the actor has not starred in as many roles as his costars, his performance in Better Call Saul has earned the actor a great name.

Giancarlo Esposito – Gus Fring

AMC

Arguably one of the most well-known actors from the Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul franchises is Giancarlo Esposito. His character in the universe is Gus Fring, a drug lord who lives an almost double life, fooling the public and disguising his truly Machiavellian ways.

Esposito is notorious for playing a hard-ass character similar to his character in Better Call Saul. His most-known filmography includes appearances in many Spike Lee films, The Maze Runner franchise, Stargirl, and TV series like Revolution, Dear White People, The Boys, and The Mandalorian. To date, the actor has been nominated for five Primetime Emmys and may achieve a sixth for the final season of Better Call Saul.

Tony Dalton

While Tony Dalton's Lalo Salamanca has only appeared in about half of the total number of episodes in Better Call Saul, his prominent storyline in the final season had us needing to include the actor on this list. Dalton has appeared in a handful of Mexican films and TV shows including Sr. Ávila where he played the main character, Roberto Ávila. His most recent role came in Marvel's Hawkeye where he played Jack Duquense.
