New images have just been released for the final season of Better Call Saul. Recently given a premiere date of April 18 on AMC, the sixth season of the series will bring an end to the Breaking Bad prequel series, showing fans what happened in the years leading up to Walter White's cancer diagnosis. We'll also find out what ultimately becomes of Jimmy McGill, Bob Odenkirk's former lawyer once known a "Saul Goodman" who's now living under a new identity as a Cinnabon manager in Omaha.

One of three new photos, which you can see above, shows us Rhea Seehorn's Kim Wexler in season 6. Kim was not present in Breaking Bad whatsoever without so much as a mention from Saul at any point, though it makes sense he wouldn't want to mention his wife's name to his criminal buddies. But if Kim is not in the picture in Breaking Bad, then what happened with her? She's such a big part of Jimmy's life that something major will have to happen for them to be separated, and some fans fear this might spell bad news for Kim's fate.

It doesn't help that Seehorn herself has described the final season of Better Call Saul as "devastating." That doesn't necessarily mean Kim herself will meet a gruesome end, but we can presume that Better Call Saul won't have the happiest of endings. The series will finally show us what happens to Gene Takavic, the person Jimmy has been living as since abandoning his old life to avoid criminal charges. We last saw a stranger confronting "Gene" about his true identity when Jimmy decided that he was going to take care of this problem himself. We'll see how he does that in season 6.

Another new photo reveals our first look at Bob Odenkirk's return a Jimmy in the sixth season. The lawyer is standing in front of a dining room that seems to reference El Camino, the Breaking Bad movie released on Netflix in 2019. Jimmy also seems like he has an awful lot on his mind at this moment, which makes sense given all that's been happening with Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton) and the cartel. Jimmy has not only his own health to worry about, but the safety of his wife, Kim Wexler-McGill, as well.

There are no plans for any more Breaking Bad spinoffs, and let's face it, the cast isn't getting any younger, making another prequel show rather unlikely. This means we will probably be seeing these characters for the last time. A third sneak peek image of Better Call Saul's final season shows us Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring and Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut. Both characters died in Breaking Bad but had their backstories expanded significantly thanks to Better Call Saul.

Better Call Saul will premiere its sixth and final season on April 18, 2022, on AMC. The final season will consist of 13 episodes, up from the traditional ten to allow the writers more time to properly close the story. It might not be a peachy ending, but Bob Odenkirk recently teased to Variety that what the cast and crew has in store is "pretty great" for fans.
