Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould teases that Breaking Bad fans are going to learn some brand-new information in the spin-off's upcoming season 6. Gould also revealed that he and Vince Gilligan, along with the rest of the crew, are preparing the storyline for the new season, though things have been a bit slow, for obvious reasons. Better Call Saul is one of the many productions that has faced major challenges due to the ongoing public health crisis.

In a new interview, Peter Gould was asked about Better Call Saul season 6 and what fans can expect. "I think we're going to learn things about the characters in Breaking Bad that we didn't know," he teased. "We're going to learn things about the events of Breaking Bad that we didn't know." Gould added, "And we're going to learn things about the fates of a lot of these characters that may surprise people or certainly throw them into a different light." Season 6 will be the last of the hit AMC series, and Vince Gilligan is confident that the ending will be better than Breaking Bad's.

As for the writing on that ending, the crew of Better Call Saul is a little behind. "We're pretty late in the season, Peter Gould said. "We are in a Zoom room every day." He added, "We got to meet for two weeks at the beginning... For the season - it's like trying to dance in quicksand. It's a handicap in my book to be working remotely, but I love what we came up with." Gould went on to note, "We have a few more scripts than we usually do," before adding that everyone involved is determined to start shooting early next year.

Vince Gilligan has an immense amount of trust in Peter Gould and how he steers the Better Call Saul ship. "This show is absolutely, under Peter [Gould]'s leadership, going to stick the landing," said Gilligan in February. He went on to tease that media outlets "are going to be having articles about which one had the better ending, Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. And I bet you folks are going to say Better Call Saul." As for how that will turn out, we're just going to have to be a bit more patient than normal.

The Breaking Bad ending is widely regarded to be one of TV's best, so that had to have been sitting in the back of everybody's head while crafting Better Call Saul season 6. Whatever the case may be, the spin-off has set itself apart from the original series and it stands on its own, which means that the ending will more than likely keep that tradition going. As to what ending viewers prefer, that will have to be determined when the series finale airs. You can check out the interview with Peter Gould over at Deadline.
