Cameras will very soon start rolling on the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul as series star Michael Mando has revealed he's on his way to the set. Since the first season of the Breaking Bad prequel series, Mando has played Ignacio "Nacho" Varga, a character who first started out as an antagonist but has since become a fan favorite as a bit of an antihero. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Mando posted that he's left Canada for the United States en route to the set of Better Call Saul.

"Goodbye [Canada]. Hello [U.S.] Flying into BCS6," Mando says in the tweet. His arrival coincides with Bob Odenkirk recently claiming that the final season would start shooting in March, as this will give Mando time to quarantine for two weeks before production officially begins next month.

Because Nacho is an original character who didn't appear in Breaking Bad, the fate of his character is unknown. This separates him from most of the other characters on Better Call Saul, as fans know exactly what happens with other major characters like Saul Goodman, Gus Fring, and Mike Ehrmantraut. Nacho's absence in Breaking Bad has fans of the character worried he won't make it out of the last season of Better Call Saul alive.

When Bob Odenkirk first appeared as Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, he mentions Mando's character. Thinking that he's been kidnapped by men sent by Lalo (Tony Dalton), Saul exclaims that "it was Ignacio, he's the one!" At the time, the dialogue was nothing more than a throwaway line, but it served as an inspiration for the Better Call Saul writers to create an entire subplot between Lalo and Nacho. Their interactions have served for some of the tensest moments of the entire series.

The uncertainty over the character's fate can also be said for Kim Wexler, the breakout fan favorite played by Rhea Seehorn. Though she's been consistently snubbed by Emmys and other awards shows, Seehorn has won over viewers with her portrayal of Saul's partner in both law and romance who just might have even more of a dark side than Mr. Goodman. She isn't even so much as mentioned in Breaking Bad, leaving the fate of Kim completely up in the air heading into the final season of Better Call Saul.

Better Call Saul also stars returning Breaking Bad stars Giancarlo Esposito and Jonathan Banks as Gus Fring and Mike Ehrmantraut, respectively. Other special guests from the parent series have also appeared, such as Dean Norris as Hank Schrader, Lavell Crawford as Huell Babineaux, and Laura Fraser as Lydia Rodarte-Quayle. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have not yet appeared in the spinoff to reprise their roles as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, but it seems more likely than not that the two will appear in some fashion in Better Call Saul's final episodes.

Hopefully, we'll see some new episodes of Better Call Saul by the end of the year, but AMC has not yet set a release date for the sixth and final season. This news comes to us from Michael Mando on Twitter.
