Beverly Hills Cop is a franchise that is still much loved, yet not represented well by its sequels. For years now, we've been promised Beverly Hills Cop 4, which was originally set for 2016 release but has stalled due to scripting issues. There was also a planned CBS series that would have revolved around Axel Foley's son, but it never made it past the pilot stage. While we await any sign that a new adventure for the Detroit cop is actually happening, we have a new promo that puts star Eddie Murphy's laugh to brilliant use.

British TV channel Film4 is planning a Beverly Hills Cop marathon for next week. While it won't include the first-ever public viewing of the Beverly Hills Cop pilot, which actually featured Eddie Murphy reprising his iconic role, it does include the first blockbuster hit, the legendary Beverly Hills Cop, as well as the much-less well-received sequels Beverly Hills Cop 2 and Beverly Hills Cop 3. The promo for the marathon brilliantly takes Eddie Murphy's iconic laugh and sets it to the Beverly Hills Cop theme by Harold Faltermeyer, also known as The Axel F. Theme.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 is said to return Axel Foley back to his old stomping grounds for a new murder mystery. He has been living a cushy life as a Beverly Hills Detective, but must go back to Detroit during the coldest winter on record to navigate new rules and old enemies in one of America's most tenacious cities. While Paramount bumped the movie off it's release schedule for 2016, it is still said to be happening. We haven't heard any news about the sequel since early May. While we await an update, let's all laugh along with Eddie Murphy!
