Kristen Schaal and Holland Taylor have joined the cast of Bill & Ted Face the Music. The news comes after it was revealed that production had started down in New Orleans. Fans have been treated to some pretty excellent pictures and video from the set featuring Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves back in character for the first time in nearly 30 years. So far, the response from fans has been extremely positive.

Bill & Ted 3 will see Kristen Schaal playing a character named Kelly who is a messenger from the future. Not much else is clear about Kelly at this time. As for Holland Taylor, she is set to take on the role of The Great Leader, the most powerful person in the universe - the center of which is San Dimas, California, 700 years in the future. Schaal and Taylor join previously announced cast members including Alex Winter, Keanu Reeves, William Sadler, Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Kid Cudi, Anthony Carrigan, Beck Bennett, Erinn Hayes, Jayma Mays, Amy Stoch, Hal Landon Jr., and Jillian Bell.

The time-travelling buddy adventure comedy will be directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) from a screenplay by returning franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon and produced by Scott Kroopf alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce on behalf of Hammerstone Studios. Steven Soderbergh is on board as executive producer. Holland Taylor was most recently seen in Gloria Bell and Kristen Schaal recently voiced the role of Trixie in Toy Story 4.

Steven Soderbergh previously teased Bill & Ted 3 earlier this year, praising the writing of Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves have also praised the script of the long-awaited sequel and fans can't wait to see what they've got planned for our titular characters. With that being said, there was a bit of an uproar on social media over the choice to have Bill and Ted's kids be daughters this time around. Solomon posted a lengthy thread in response to the negativity and shut it down in a polite, yet firm way. When it comes down to it, nobody knows these characters like Solomon and Matheson.

Bill & Ted 3 has finally come to fruition because of the overwhelming support from fans all over the world. After taking a while to secure funding, the sequel is being financed by media entrepreneur and producer David Haring along with Patrick W. Dugan of Dugan Entertainment. Haring Executive Produced the Angelina Jolie, David Oyelowo fantasy movie Come Away, directed by Academy Award Winner, Brenda Chapman. Dugan is a long-time supporter of the arts. Hammerstone Studios, Haring and Dugan joined forces earlier this year to help make the most excellent threequel. Now the wait begins as we set sight on the August 21st, 2020 release date. The casting news comes to us straight from Orion Pictures.
