Bill Murray is bucking his comedic roots once again to star in the drama City of Ember. According to Variety, the film is a Walden Media adaptation of the Jeanne DuPrau young adult novel.

The book was based around this narrow, dark hole whose only light source comes from the street lamps above it. Two young boys try to unlock the mystery of this place, but are constantly thwarted by a corrupt mayor.

Monster House's Gil Kenan is directing, and Tom Hanks is producing. The film will also star Toby Jones and Saoirse Ronan as the two boys.

The film doesn't have a set start date at this time.
