As if there wasn't enough hype building around Donald Glover's upcoming horror series Swarm, with its first-time screening on opening night at this year's SXSW festival and praise flooding in so far for Dominique Fishback's performance, yet another surprise from the project has come in the form of multiple Grammy winner Billie Eilish surprising her millions of fans with a clip of her first ever acting debut in the show. Per a report from Entertainment Weekly, the young singer shared the clip on her official Instagram, which has since garnered millions of views and likes from every corner.

Swarm is the latest project by Donald Glover and Janine Nabors, and Glover's second one as a director. Known for his multi-faceted career in music, comedy, and both in front of and behind the camera, he's now seriously proving his chops with this new series that looks to be a perfect mix of horror, dark comedy, and abundant social commentary about fame and social media. The show stars Dominique Fishback as Dre, emerging pop star Chlöe Bailey as her sister Marissa, and Damson Idris (Snowfall) as Marissa's boyfriend Khalid. Several other stars cameo throughout the series, including Rory Culkin, Kiersey Clemons, Paris Jackson, Rickey Thompson, Byron Bowers, and now none other than Billie Eilish herself.

In an almost ironic twist of the theme, she shared a clip of her first acting role in the series on her Instagram last night, which blindsided and excited her millions of fans. In the clip she plays a young girl named Eva opposite Dre (Fishback), and appears to be another fan out for blood. She asks Dre about milk spilled on a carpet, which Dre remarks was red in color. Eva (Eilish) asks her with composed delight if she killed someone, and Dre responds "yes". Clearly pleased, Eva responds with a smile, "very good". The clip is yet another brief but immersive dive into the eerie world created by Glover and Nabors, which very much gives a vibe reminiscent of Jordan Peele's recent horror films.

What is Swarm About?

Swarm at its core is a haunting, ominous tale about the darkest recesses of obsessive fandom, which intentionally applies quite a lot to our current world. Easily accessible social media hyper-focuses every normal citizen's exposure to celebrities all over the world, increasing consumption of everything pertaining to them astronomically. For a person who endures some kind of mental instability or obsessive behaviors, this can be detrimental and even deadly.

This segues into the plot of Swarm, which centers on a young woman named Dre whose compulsive obsession with a Beyonce-esque pop star turns deadly, particularly after a tragedy strikes her family, and they then start to estrange her. In her isolation she falls deeper into her obsession and starts to befriend fellow "superfans", who also don't seem very stable and encourage her to partake in murdering those who stand in the way of their fandom. The more murder she commits the more she spirals away from reality, and we'll have to wait and see later in the series just how far she draws her trail of blood.

The first episode of Swarm premieres today exclusively on Prime Video.
