Billy Zane has signed on to star in Paul Breuls' World War II drama The Hessen Affair. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will be the Belgian producer's directorial debut.
The film will be based on actual events. It takes place in 1945, and centers on a group of victorious American officers that discover a stash of German jewels and then try to fence them in New York.
Breuls stated about the Nicholas Meyer's penned screenplay, "The script is the base of it all, and there is no doubt that this one is among Nicholas Meyer's best work. Good scripts attract good actors, and this one is no exception."
Shooting is set to being on November 12th, 2007, in Canada.
