There were two overriding themes in this week's episode of Bionic Woman. The first was that it's never a good idea to lie. Even when the truth is painful, it's the best option. And the second theme would be that having bionics in your body is inevitably a bad thing.

So, the episode begins with Jamie running down an alleyway, seemingly in pursuit of a bad guy. She throws up a car door to reveal... Becca, making out with a college-aged kid. Not only is Jamie pissed that Becca is being an idiot, but she's angry that Becca lied to her and told her she was studying with a friend.

Jamie damaged her toe, and so goes to see her lovable techie friend. While she gets it repaired, she talks about the situation with Becca, and the fact that what really bothers her is the fact that she was lied to. After the repair, she asks to "keep this our little secret." Are we seeing a theme here?

Jonas calls her in for a briefing about her next mission, and immediately mentions the toe. Jamie and Antonio are going to be sent to Paraguay to rescue someone being held on suspicion of working for the CIA. Jamie agrees to take the mission, but worries about what she will tell Becca about being away from home.

The next morning, Jamie and Becca reconcile over breakfast, and Becca apologizes for lying. Jamie, in turn, lies to Becca saying that she's going to Napa to celebrate Carly getting into law school. It was at this point that I asked myself "Why did she lie? Why not just say that she has to travel for work?"

During the flight, Jamie and Antonio talk about the difference between "trust" and "full disclosure." Jamie isn't real comfortable with the idea of lying by omission, but Antonio seems to think it's both acceptable and often needed.

Later, Jamie and Antonio arrive at the facility where Dr. Stevens, the hostage, is being held. Jamie uses her superpowers to break in through a grate and stop a large fan from cutting her and Antonio up. After this subtle break-in, Antonio deliberately trips an alarm sot that they can be captured and taken to Dr. Stevens.

Once they are before Stevens, the hostages threaten to harm Jamie and Antonio if he won't decode the information on a flash drive for them. He begins to (or pretends to begin to), at which point Jamie goes into superhero mode and takes out the terrorists. Antonio gets his own "Look how cool I am" moment as he shoots two of the terrorists. While his hands are still bound behind his back.

But now that Stevens has been freed, Antonio says that he has to be removed. It seems that what was on the flash drive was information about Jamie's bionics. Sensitive information indeed. Jamie, unsurprisingly, isn't ok with the idea of cold-blooded murder, and she takes Antonio down so that she and Stevens can escape, although Jamie gets shot in the process.

After they've made their escape, Stevens removes the bullet from Jamie's body, and the two talk about what was on the flash drive. Stevens also gives Jamie some unpleasant news - the bionics only have about a five year life-span. At which point, she'll die. It is at this point that one wonders "How long has Sarah Corvus been active?"

Moving briefly away from Jamie, Stevens and Antonio, we get to see Becca at home alone. Carly drops by to drop something off for Jamie, revealing Jamie's lie to Becca. Becca is, clearly, not happy.

Returning to Jamie and the good doctor, Jamie hides Stevens away when she hears Antonio coming. They have a disagreement, which basically comes down to the fact that Antonio was going to kill Stevens and Jamie isn't willing to let it happen. "Stevens is what we call collateral damage. Killing him might save you." Antonio says, and Jamie counters by saying that to get to Stevens he'll have to go through her. They fight - and while Antonio does well, she pretty much stomps him. But when she goes to rescue Stevens, he's no longer there.

When next we see Jamie, she's back at Berkut. Jonas comes in to talk to her, and she immediately confronts him over the issue that she'll be dead in five years. Jonas assures her that he will find the fix to her anthrocites and keep her alive.

Meanwhile, Sarah has been brought in to Berkut by Jae. Jae, Sarah and Janos play a game of feints, offers, counter-offers and outright lies that focuses on two issues. The first is that Sarah is dying, and the Berkut group might have a cure. But in return, they want her to turn over Anthros to them.

Through the course of their "game", it comes out that the cure - if one exists - was on the flash drive that is now in Dr. Steven's possession. Shortly after this information comes out, Sarah escapes from her restraints, and gets out of the base by using Jae as a hostage.

The next we see of Sarah, she's in a bar flirting with a random guy. They chat about the ideal of "living in the moment," something Sarah is now absolutely dedicated to. The two of them leave the bar together, which is somewhat awkward considering that the last words to pass between Sarah and Jae were her telling him she loved him.

The episode ends with Jamie coming back home and Becca calling her out on her lie and the hypocrisy of it. Becca tells Jamie that she just wants to know the truth of what Jamie is doing. Jamie responds by telling her that she wishes she could tell Becca everything, but she can't, though she does at least allude to the fact that the lies are related to her new job. Becca finally tells Jamie "I need to know that you're never going to leave me." And Jamie lies once more, as she says "I will never leave you."

The theme of lying and the truth coming out ran through this episode a bit strongly - perhaps too much so. But I really do think that this show is getting better from week to week. There are clearly more secrets to be revealed about the Berkut group and the bionic program, and I'm eager to find out more.
