The concept of the new movie Bird Box is that survival in a post-apocalyptic world depends upon avoiding eye contact with an unseen entity in the sky. Those who see it are driven to suicide, killing themselves moments later in horribly brutal ways. It's not clear what it is exactly these people are looking at, leaving it to the imagination of the viewer as to what the creatures in the sky look like. However, a deleted scene was filmed for the movie revealing an altercation between star Sandra Bullock's character, Malorie, and one of the evil entities. Bullock has since described what the creature looks like, and an artist of custom action figures has now turned the unseen menace into its own toy.

According to Bullock, the "snake-like" creature can best be described as "a green man with a horrific baby face." If you think that sounds silly, Bullock agrees with you. The actress had a difficult time taking the monster seriously during the course of filming the scene, actually laughing at it between takes. Not only did Bullock find the "long fat baby" to be ridiculous, the movie's director, Susanne Bier, completely agreed. The decision to include the scene came from one of the movie's producers, but Bier was fortunately able to get the scene axed prior to the movie's official release on Netflix. As of now, there's no way to watch the scene in question, but fans are clearly having fun envisioning just how the monster must have looked.

Shortly after its release, Bird Box would take the internet by storm. The movie is generating lots of reviews, opinions, and memes which are showing up across every social media platform, with Netflix since touting its record-breaking viewership numbers. According to the network, the over 45 million people watched the movie. Critically, it may not be a complete hit, as the movie is sitting on a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, while its critical consensus seems to be a bit divided, Bird Box is getting lots of attention, and Netflix is no doubt happy with the results.

The movie is getting compared to A Quiet Place, but is actually based on a 2014 novel of the same name. In the Netflix adaptation, Bullock portrays a survivor caring for two small children in a post-apocalyptic world. Seeing an unknown presence in the sky results in suicidal madness, requiring the use of blindfolds whenever traveling outside. Bullock is attempting to guide the kids to a sanctuary, but faces many challenges along the way. The movie does not show the unseen creatures in the sky at any point, and perhaps one look at the creature will explain why.

Artist Readful Things posted his custom action figure of the Bird Box creature on Instagram. For anyone who still hasn't seen the movie, it is now available to stream on Netflix. Hopefully you'll still be able to take it seriously after seeing this artist's rendition of the monsters. In any case, it's easy to see why Bullock and Bier didn't want the scene included. Readful Things has lots of other cool custom figures on his Instagram, and you can take a look at the Bird Box toy below.
