The recent trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at last confirmed that Narcos: Mexico and The Forever Purge star Tenoch Huerta will play Namor the Submariner in the Marvel sequel. Following months and months of rumors and speculation, we now officially know that Huerta will bring Namor into the MCU, and the actor has finally been able to break his silence on depicting the iconic comic book character.

"It's amazing. I mean everyone pretends to be a superhero or to be part of movies or whatever, and then you are part of it. You are the superhero, and then you are wearing the costume. It's your skin, your voice, your brain, your talent, your story. It's overwhelming."

In an interview with Variety at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, Tenoch Huerta revealed what it was like donning the costume of Namor and join the pantheon of heroes that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Clearly, the actor has been hugely affected by the process, and no doubt this will be reflected in his performance, with Namor set to play a major part in the Black Panther sequel.

Speaking of Namor’s costume, the brief glimpses of the character’s live-action debut tease a surprisingly comic-accurate take on his attire. Huerta will sport the familiar green trunks, elf-like ears, and even the winged ankles of Namor, all of which will be familiar to Marvel fans. Alongside these elements, the MCU’s Namor, and Atlantis as a whole, will lean heavily into Aztec iconography. Something which rumors have claimed for some time.

First appearing in the pages of Marvel Comics way, way back in 1939, Namor is the product of a human man falling in love with an Atlantean princess. Becoming king of Atlantis, Namor will do whatever it takes to protect his underwater kingdom and home - even if this means battling with other superheroes. Something which recent leaks have hinted will happen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
