The excitement for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is at an all-time high as the release draws closer, and fans are getting their first look at the film's quality as the first set of reviews are released on Rotten Tomatoes. The final feature film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe looks to be a strong one, with an excellent Tomatoes score to back it up.

Though there are only 86 reviews so far, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever currently boasts a 94%, which holds up against the best films in the MCU. Of course, the score is subject to change as more reviews flood the site, but a debut above 90 points to good things for the highly anticipated sequel. Black Panther received a similar score when it arrived in theaters in 2018, currently holding a staggering 96% with over 500 reviews, claiming one of the top spots in Marvel's catalog so far.

Eric Francisco, who writes for Inverse, calls Wakanda Forever "a monumental epic whose thematic and narrative maturity elevates the superhero genre to breathtaking new heights." Richard Lawson published his thoughts in Vanity Fair, saying, "There is much to be admired here, a care for craft and detail on a higher plane than other Marvel fare."

MovieWeb's own Julian Roman got a preview of Wakanda Forever, calling it a powerful emotional sequel. Wright takes over as the film's protagonist, and the underwater scenes in the sequel will give Avatar 2 a run for its money, according to our review. Luckily, fans don't need to wait long to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in theaters, as the movie is available later this week with a premiere set for Nov. 11.

How Does Wakanda Forever Stack Up Against the Rest of the MCU?

As mentioned before, the Rotten Tomatoes score is bound to change as reviews continue to pour in following the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, how do the early reactions stack up to the rest of the MCU? Compared to the rest of Phase Four, the upcoming sequel is starting strong.

Black Widow arrived in 2021 and currently holds a 79% with critics on the site. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which served as an origin story for the titular hero, made a splash with 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Disney+ shows, such as WandaVision, Loki, and What If...?, all fared well with 91%, 92%, and 94%, respectively.

Wakanda Forever is currently tied with Avengers: Endgame at 94%, while Ms. Marvel has the highest rating in Marvel's connected universe at 97%. So, will Black Panther: Wakanda Forever be the best movie in Phase Four? Audiences can find out on Friday, Nov. 11.
