Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s release is quickly approaching. With tickets now on sale and a new trailer dropping, excitement is building. In the two-and-half-minute trailer, the basics of the plot have been laid out in an efficient and direct way. The Wakandans are mourning the loss of their fallen leader T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman). While mourning, our heroes come face-to-face with a new threat, Namor The Sub-Mariner. The disgruntled king of Atlantis goes to war with the Wakandans.

Playing Namor, actor Tenoch Huerta has claimed that this character is not the villain of the film. Director Ryan Coogler has stated the opposite, saying Black Panther 2 has the perfect villain. Dueling statements show the character's complexity, and this trailer builds on that idea.

This latest trailer has given audiences lots to sift through with imagery, signifying the film is a dramatic experience. The score and Namor’s “Only the most broken people can be great leaders” line tease a villain with morality, almost like Erik Killmonger. It is hard to appreciate all the small details, but this trailer has it all. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever promises a moving and action-packed story ending with a peak at the new Black Panther.

Namor seems to be a visible threat to the Wakandans but focuses on protecting his people. It is the subtle shift of this tension that shows Namor will not be another Aquaman. Shots of Riri Williams and Princess Ramonda staring down Namor in the throne room before an attack portray tension. Seeing the Dora Milaje prepare for battle shows Wakanda can still hold its own without its king. It is possible that the Wakandans could have started the conflict, but the trailer does not reveal it.

A stern look from Namor to Ramonda showcases just how serious the threat will become. Attacks on the Wakandan throne room and its flooding show how unrelenting the attack will be. Moments follow with Shuri in distress and Riri Williams building her own Iron Man suit, signaling the fight is. Such a siege in different locations teases action being spread out over the film's lengthy running time. Focusing on the war is the trailer's focal point until there is a pivot in the last twenty seconds.
