Boxing may not be nearly as popular as it used to be, but the sport has a long history of athletes who have inspired some incredible movies. Raging Bull told the life story of iconic pugilist Jake LaMotta, while the beloved Rocky was loosely based on a little known fighter named Chuck Wepner, who shocked the world by going all 15 rounds against the great Muhammad Ali n 1975. Later this year, another legendary boxing tale will be told when Bleed for This hits theaters, with the first trailer debuting today.

Bleed For This is the incredible true story of one of the most inspiring and unlikely comebacks in sports history. Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent) stars as Vinny "The Pazmanian Devil" Pazienza, a local Providence boxer who shot to stardom after winning 2 world title fights. After a near-fatal car accident leaves Vinny with a severed spine, doctors tell him he may never walk again.

With the help of renowned trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart), Vinny becomes a legend when he not only walks again, but miraculously returns to the ring to reclaim his title belt only a year after the accident. The supporting cast includes Katey Sagal, Ted Levine, Ciarán Hinds, Jordan Gelber and Amanda Clayton. Open Road Films has set a November 4 release date, putting this biopic up against the highly-anticipated Marvel adaptation Doctor Strange.

Ben Younger (Boiler Room) directs from his own adapted screenplay, with Bruce Cohen, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Chad A. Verdi, Noah Kraft and Pamela Thur producing alongside the director. Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese serves as an executive producer, alongside Joshua Sason, Michelle Verdi, Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson. We'll have to wait and see if this biopic can generate enough hype to compete with Doctor Strange this fall.

Along with the trailer, we also have a new photo and the first poster from Bleed for This, featuring a jacked Miles Teller. Interestingly enough, another boxing biopic, Hands of Stone, starring Edgar Ramirez as the iconic Roberto Duran, will hit theaters on August 26.
