Relativity Media has come aboard to produce and distribute the Bloodsport remake, bringing on James McTeigue (The Raven) to direct. We first reported on the reboot back in May 2011, when Phillip Noyce was attached to direct, although he is no longer involved.

The story, written by Robert Mark Kamen (Taken), follows a group of modern-day mercenaries who clash with the underground world of Brazilian Vale Tudo fighting. No cast members have been announced at this time. Robert Mark Kamen revealed back in October that original Bloodsport star Jean-Claude Van Damme will not have a role in the reboot.

Craig Rosenberg will rewrite the script under James McTeigue's supervision, with Edward R. Pressman, Chris Brown, Alberto Lensi producing. No production schedule was given.

James McTeigue's other credits include V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin, and the upcoming Survivor.
