Lori Loughlin is the latest Full House star to speak out following the sudden death of series star Bob Saget. After performing at what would be his final comedy show on Saturday night, Saget was found dead the next day in his Orlando hotel room. Because he'd always been so full of life and was still very active and optimistic about the future, the news has been just as heartbreaking as it is shocking for Saget's family, friends, and fans alike.

Loughlin knew Saget very well from their time together on Full House. In the sitcom, Saget played family patriarch Danny Tanner. He worked as a morning news host for the program Wake Up, San Francisco alongside Loughlin's Rebecca Donaldson. It was through their friendship that Rebecca met Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) and wound up becoming a member of the family herself. Behind the scenes, Saget and Loughlin were also great friends as the cast kept in touch in the years after the show ended.

"Words cannot begin to express how devastated I am," Loughlin said after Saget's recent death, per Yahoo Entertainment. "Bob was more than my friend; he was my family. I will miss his kind heart and quick wit. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and laughter. I love you, Bobby."

When Full House came to an end, the cast had no idea they'd ever share the screen together again. Decades later, it had become trendy in Hollywood to reboot popular shows and movies from years past, and Netflix got in on the action by ordering Fuller House to series. The updated show was set in the same San Francisco home featured in the original with most of the original cast returning to reprise their roles from Full House, sans the retired Olsen Twins.

Though Loughlin was written out of the final series of Fuller House amid the 2019 college admissions scandal, Saget stood by his friend when questioned about the situation in interviews. While he knew that refusing to cut Loughlin out of his life could possibly bring some backlash in his own direction, the comedian was open with how much he loved Loughlin. As he explained on Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast:

"I love her. I've been asked that a lot. I've gotten whittled down. I just love her. I don't know, I'd like to see a lot of other people doing time. I don't know. We're in such a place where no matter what I say I'm screwed, you know, and I just love her. That's where I am on that."

Bob Saget had a reputation for being just as warm and kind as he was funny. Everyone who knew him has been sharing heartfelt tributes as fans around the world are also mourning "America's Dad." Some of his stand-up may have been just about as raunchy as comedy can get, a stark contrast to his family-friendly material on ABC, but the endgame was always the same for Saget: he just wanted to make people laugh. Rest in peace to a comedy legend.
