According to Variety, Walden Media has tapped Crash co-writer Bobby Moresco to adapt Mike Lupica's forthcoming baseball novel Heat, set up with Joseph Del Hierro's Oh Really Prods.

Moresco and Paul Haggis have been nominated for an Oscar in the original screenplay category for Crash and the duo won the Writers Guild Award earlier this month. Moresco co-produced Million Dollar Baby and recently wrote and directed 10th and Wolf, starring Val Kilmer, Giovanni Ribisi and James Marsden.

Heat revolves around a 12-year-old Cuban immigrant who's a baseball prodigy living without his parents and with his 17-year-old brother in the shadows of Yankee Stadium. The boy dreams of playing in the Little League World Series until a rival accuses him being older than the league limit.
