20th Century has just released a burger-flipping trailer for The Bob's Burgers Movie. In gestation for seemingly forever and finally set to hit the big screen in May, the movie brings the Belchers to the theaters where they'll face the biggest challenge to the family restaurant yet. The brand new trailer, which you can watch below, begins innocuously enough by posing as a fast food commercial before the animated Belchers come in to tease what's to come.

The official synopsis reads: "The Bob’s Burgers Movie is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob's Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family's restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong."

The Bob's Burgers Movie stars series voice actors H. Jon Benjamin as Bob, John Roberts as Linda, Dan Mintz as Tina, Eugene Mirman as Gene, Kristen Schaal as Louise, and Larry Murphy as Teddy. Show voice actors Kevin Kline, David Wain, and Zach Galifianakis will also be featured. Bob's Burgers creator Loren Bouchard and Bernard Derriman are directing the movie.

"We're thrilled to be invited to bring Bob's Burgers to the big screen," Bouchard said when the film was first announced in 2017. "We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had, but it also has to work for all the good people who've never seen the show. We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colors and the sounds and the ever so slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob's, but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?"

In July 2021, Bouchard gave Collider an update on the film's progress. He said, “It’s coming. Working hard on it. Excited to bring it out into the world. Excited also to bring it out at the right time. But we’re not in a hurry to be in theaters until it’s really come back, people are going to the movies and feel safe and comfortable there. And we have to finish it. It’s not next month. We don’t have a date yet, we’ll announce very soon. But we are hard at work on it.”

As of now, The Bob's Burgers Movie is set to be released on May 27, 2022. This is great news for fans of the show who've been patiently waiting for this release. Let's hope the film is just as hilarious as the TV series as the new trailer is pretty promising.
