A gem of a film is finally going to be getting its proper treatment on DVD.

In a story from MTV.com, Wes Anderson's maiden film effort Bottle Rocket is going to be coming out through the Criterion Collection.

According to Anderson, "We've just begun work with the Criterion Collection to do Bottle Rocket on a new DVD that's going to have all kinds of stuff. There's a lot of Bottle Rocket that was on the cutting room floor, so we have a lot to work with on that one."

Synopsis:

Upon his release from a mental hospital following a breakdown, the directionless Anthony joins his friend Dignan (who seems far less sane than Anthony.) Dignan has hatched a hair brained scheme for an as-yet unspecified crime spree that somehow involves his former boss, the (supposedly) legendary Mr. Henry. With the help of their pathetic neighbor and pal Bob, Anthony and Dignan pull a job and hit the road, where Anthony finds love with motel maid Inez. When our boys finally hook up with Mr. Henry, the ensuing escapade turns out to be far from what anyone expected.

Sadly, there is no release date or any other information for the Criterion Version of Bottle Rocket.
