Rising star Alicia Vikander is set to join both Matt Damon and Julia Stiles in Universal's Untitled Matt Damon Bourne Sequel. We reported last month that the actress was being sought for both Bourne 5 and New Regency's Assassin's Creed, while also being attached to star in The Circle alongside Tom Hanks. Deadline reports that Alicia Vikander will not be starring in either Assassin's Creed or The Circle. Our earlier report revealed that the actress was trying to juggle her schedule to accommodate all three movies, but that didn't happen.

It isn't known who Alicia Vikander will play in Bourne 5, and there haven't been story details released at this time. Universal has already set a July 29, 2016 release date for the untitled Bourne sequel, and with the cast starting to come together, production will likely begin in the near future. There were rumors that The Bourne Legacy star Jeremy Renner could also appear in the sequel as Aaron Cross, but producer Frank Marshall recently confirmed that they are two separate projects, with an Untitled Jeremy Renner Bourne Sequel being developed as well.

Paul Greengrass is directing from a script he co-wrote with Christopher Rouse, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Jeffrey M. Weiner. Alicia Vikander is coming off her critically-acclaimed performance in Ex Machina, and she currently stars in the indie drama Testament of Youth. She will next be seen later this year in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Adam Jones.
