A former kid actor best known for his role in The Flamingo Kid and doing voice work for Disney, Brad Caleb Kane has taken on a new job as a screenwriter. According to Variety, he will be adapting Elizabeth Kostova's novel The Historian for the big screen.

The novel revolves around a group of modern-day vampires. It follows a young woman's search for her father. Thing about that is, the guy took off ten years ago in search of Vlad the Impaler. The book is said to be a believable take on the Dracula mythos.

Sony's Douglas Wick stated, "One of the things we've been looking for is someone who could not only capture the visceral, sexy part of the story, but who also has the talent to make it credible."

Shooting will begin once the script by Kane is finalized.
