Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence have teamed for Serena, a period drama coming from Mark Cuban's 2929 Entertainment.

Academy award winner Susanne Bier has taken directorial duties over from Darren Aronofsky. Based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Ron Rash, Christopher Kyle (K-19: The Widowmaker; The Weight of Water) will pen the screenplay.

The story takes place in 1929, and follows a newlywed couple attempting to start a timber empire. Things turn ugly when the wife learns she can't have children, thus setting out to destroy her husband's illegitimate son.

Serena will begin shooting in the coming weeks.
