Fresh off his Oscar-nominated turn in American Hustle, Bradley Cooper has signed on to star in American Blood for Warner Bros.

The story is based on the upcoming crime novel of the same name by Ben Sanders, which centers on Marshall Grade (Bradley Cooper), a former NYPD cop who became a mob informant and now lives under the witness protection program in New Mexico. The story follows Marshall's involvement with a missing person's case. The book, which will be published by MacMillan in the fall of 2015, is said to be the first in a series of books. There is only a partial manuscript completed at this time, but it sparked the interest of Warner Brosl and another rival studio, along with several TV production companies.

Andrew Sodroski is writing the screenplay adaptation, with Bradley Cooper, John Lesher, Adam Kassan, Brendan Deenan and Pouya Shabazian set to produce. No production schedule was given.

Bradley Cooper is currently shooting the Untitled Cameron Crowe Project, and he will begin production on director Clint Eastwood's American Sniper in the near future. He also provides the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, arriving in theaters August 1.
