Director Wayne Wang has inked a deal to direct an adaptation of Jim Yardley's non-fiction book Brave Dragons.

The book follows veteran NBA head coach Bob Weiss, who moved to Taiyuan, China to train one of the worst teams in the Chinese Basketball Association. The team is owned by a peasant turned steel tycoon Boss Wang, who refuses to loosen his grip on his players. The story also deals with the culture clash between the United States and China.

Jonathan Prince is penning the screenplay with Jon Bing and Jack and Ira Lechner producing.

The director also helmed The Joy Luck Club and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.
