The city of Albuquerque has put up two of television's most popular characters on display in honor of the hit show Breaking Bad filming in the area. In the AMC drama, which ran for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, Bryan Cranston portrayed Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who turns to cooking meth to provide for his family following a cancer diagnosis. To help him get ingratiated into the criminal underworld, Walter partners up with a Jesse Pinkman, a former student played by Aaron Paul. The series is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the show and its spinoff, Better Call Saul have been filmed. While Walt and Jesse were criminals who repeatedly broke various laws throughout the series, the city is still proud of the success of Breaking Bad along with the attention the show has brought to the location. So it didn't take much convincing for the two statues of Walt and Jesse to be placed on display when they were donated by series creator Vince Gilligan.“Over the course of fifteen years, two TV shows and one movie, Albuquerque has been wonderful to us,” Gilligan previously said in a press release. “I wanted to return the favor and give something back.” The statues were officially unveiled on July 29 at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul writer-director Thomas Schnauz was present for the occasion and shared an image of the statues for fans online to see. You can take a look at the photo below.

After Better Call Saul ended, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul reunited for the Netflix movie El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie in 2019. The film served as an epilogue to the TV series by providing resolution to the Jesse Pinkman characters while bringing in many guest stars from the show along the way. Cranston also returned for the film to appear as Walter White, reuniting the two once again.

Fans will be able to see Walt and Jesse back at it for what will likely be the final time in the final season of Better Call Saul. It was announced ahead of the spinoff's sixth and final season that the two actors would be coming back to reprise their roles from Breaking Bad, but it wasn't clarified when that would happen. Now that we are just three episodes away from the end, those appearances have to be coming up very soon.

What seems probable is that Walt and Jesse will appear in the next episode of Better Call Saul. The episode is titled "Breaking Bad," and that's probably not a coincidence. The first Breaking Bad episode to feature Bob Odenkirk as attorney Saul Goodman was called "Better Call Saul," so if Cranston and Paul are back as Walt and Jesse in the next episode, which would mark the first time either has appeared on the spinoff, it only makes sense to call that episode "Breaking Bad" as well.

Better Call Saul debuts new episodes on Monday nights on AMC.
