Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has opened up about working with beloved actor Brendan Fraser in director Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming psychological drama, The Whale. Speaking with Vanity Fair, Sink heaped praise on Aronofsky as a filmmaker before describing Fraser as “probably my favorite human on the planet.” A sentiment that can surely all agree with.

“Yeah, for sure. I don’t think I’d ever done a project that had that much character work. Darren Aronofsky is obviously brilliant, and working with him was a really formative experience, and Brendan is so incredible in it, and also just probably my favorite human on the planet. It was so amazing having that experience with him. I learned a lot about myself as an actress, and tapped into a side of things that I hadn’t really explored before.”

The Brenaissance, or Brendan Frenaissance, is now in full swing, with the treasured actor having seen a resurgence in his career with roles in the likes of Doom Patrol, Batgirl, and seminal director Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. And, from Sink’s description of working alongside him, no one deserves it more than Fraser does.

Fraser will star as the lead in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, the story of a 600-pound middle-aged man named Charlie who tries to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter. Sadie Sink, who is best known for starring in Netflix’s Stranger Things and the Fear Street trilogy, will star as Ellie, Charlie's daughter, with the two becoming estranged after Charlie abandoned his family for his gay lover, who later died, resulting in him binge eating out of pain and guilt.

Written by Samuel D. Hunter and based on his play of the same name, The Whale stars Hong Chau, Samantha Morton, and Ty Simpkins alongside Fraser and Sink. Fraser has since revealed that his role included "a lot of make-up and prosthetics,” with the role no doubt offering the actor the opportunity to bring something truly powerful to the silver screen after all these years.
