Beloved actor Brendan Fraser has once again been asked whether he would consider returning to The Mummy franchise. And once again the actor sounds game. Speaking with EW, Fraser was asked if he would like to reunite with The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor star Michelle Yeoh for a fourth outing in the franchise. See what Fraser had to say about such an idea below...

“Sounds like fun. I’m always looking for a job. If anyone’s got the right conceit. I think I’ve never been as famous, and never been as unsalaried at the moment as I am right now. So spread the word.”

Released back in 1999, the first The Mummy stars Brendan Fraser as adventurer Rick O'Connell alongside Rachel Weisz as Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan. The seemingly mismatched pair must work together when a cursed high priest with supernatural powers, Imhotep, is accidently awakened and proceeds to carry out his vendetta against mankind.

The Mummy spawned a sequel, The Mummy Returns in 2001, and was then followed by a threequel, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008, which starred Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh alongside Fraser. Taking place in China rather than Egypt, and focusing on the Terracotta Army's origins, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was sadly met with largely negative reviews from critics and is considered to be the worst installment in the trilogy.

Still, the idea of seeing Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh reunite for The Mummy 4 is surely something that fans would be eager to see. Especially now that any trailer would have either “Academy Award nominee” or “Academy Award winner” next to both of their names...

This is not the first time that Fraser has reacted positively to the idea of bringing Rick O’Connell back for more. “Gosh, I don’t know any juicy details about it. But it’s kind of an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it,” the actor said when asked about a returning for a sequel last month. “I don’t know an actor that doesn’t want a job. I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up.”

For the first time in their extensive careers, both Brendan Fraser and Michelle Yeoh are now Academy Award nominees. Fraser has been nominated for Best Actor for his performance in director Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale, which finds the actor starring as Charlie, a reclusive English teacher with severe obesity tries to restore his relationship with his teenage daughter.

Michelle Yeoh meanwhile has been nominated for Best Actress for her lead performance in the absurdist action comedy, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Everything Everywhere All at Once has been nominated for 11 Oscars at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan, and Best Supporting Actress for both Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu.

The 95th Academy Awards will be presented on March 12, 2023.
