Veteran actor Brendan Fraser has been in some very successful films, but not yet has the Mummy star been nominated for an Academy Award. An accomplished performer, Fraser has gotten recognition at awards shows in years past with nominations from the Saturn Awards, Teen Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and more. More recently, he won the Actor Award for his role in the new Darren Aronofsky film The Whale at the TIFF Tribute Awards.

The early buzz from early screenings for The Whale is that the film is incredible, thanks in part to Fraser's performance as a 600-pound recluse hoping to reconnect with his daughter (Sadie Sink) amid his health struggles. Some have gone so far as to suggest that Fraser will be nominated for an Oscar as his performance in the film is that good, and perhaps a new career best for the actor. Some are also saying Aronofsky and Sink could be given nominations as well. This suggestion has gotten many of Fraser's fans happy to hear that he may finally get his time to shine at the Academy Awards.

"People have walked out of the screening of The Whale with nothing but high praise for Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink. With speculation of Oscar nods for both," one tweet reads. "I'm excited. When Aronofksy succeeds, he really succeeds. He is one of Hollywood's great 21st century tragedians."

"The fact that Brendan Fraser winning an Oscar is a genuine possibility and not just a pipe dream of mine has been a GENUINE source of joy for me. I’m so happy for him," writes film critic Adriano Caporusso on Twitter.

Another tweet predicts, "Brendan Fraser is winning the Oscar for best actor. Goodnight."

"Absolutely thrilled to see Brendan Fraser getting raves out of #Venice79," tweets a Fraser fan. "A man that I drooled over in The Mummy, laughed with in George of the Jungle and will root for come Oscar time in The Whale."

And echoing many others, another fan said, "I am rooting so hard for Brendan Fraser this Oscar Season, i can't even put it into words. this man has gone to hell & back. if anyone deserves a Hollywood comeback, it's Brendan Fraser."
