Author Bret Easton Ellis has recently signed on to adapt the Michael Hornburg novel Downers Grove for Mangrove Entertainment. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oren Segal optioned the rights to the book and will produce the film with Jason Dubin.

Downers Grove follows Chrissie Swanson, a paranoid high school senior for whom graduating has become a matter of life or death. Ellis' novel The Informers, which inspired the film adaptation starring Billy Bob Thornton, Brandon Routh and Kim Basinger, has just finished production and is waiting for a release. Also, his sixth novel Lunar Park, is in development as a feature film with Palm Star Pictures.

Mangrove Entertainment has not announced when production for Downers Grove is scheduled to begin.
