Brian De Palma is set to direct the thriller remake Passion, based on 2010's Gallic psychodrama Crime d'amour (Love Crime), directed by France's Alain Corneau.
According to Variety, Passion will be set in the U.K. and will combine eroticism, suspense, mystery and murder into one spellbinding cinematic experience.
The original version centered on two feuding corporate execs, one of whom is driven to murder the other.
Principal photography is due to start in August at a studio in Cologne or Berlin, tapping into Germany's tax rebates. Exteriors will be filmed in London and key cast announced by the start of the Cannes Film Festival in May.
