Brian Tyree Henry recently starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the Apple TV+ film Causeway. The movie depicts a US Soldier (Lawrence) who suffers a traumatic brain injury and struggles to adjust to civilian life once she returns home. The relationships in the film, especially between Lawrence and Henry, keep the movie together. However, the actor shared the difficulties of filming during the pandemic and the long hiatus they took from the set.

Causeway initially began filming in 2019, though the premiere didn't arrive until November earlier this year. The shoot was constantly delayed over the next three years, with Henry telling Deadline he had to "re-teach myself how to be human" to finish his scenes.

"I realized I had to re-teach myself how to be human. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true, because we all dealt with loss that year in a way that was magnified because we had to be in isolation. It was so stark and bleak. Meeting somebody new in 2021 was like going to a theme park. To actually hug someone, to look someone in their eyes, to even sit in silence and stillness with somebody was something that our bodies had missed."

Causeway landed on AppleTV+ earlier this year on Nov. 4, with Lawrence leading the film. MovieWeb reviewed the project, saying Henry stole the show with an excellent performance. Lila Neugebauer helms the movie, with Ottessa Moshfegh, Luke Goebel, and Elizabeth Sanders penning the script. Causeway is available to stream now on AppleTV+.

Joker - Brian Tyree Henry
Warner Bros. Pictures

Brian Tyree Henry has seen an excellent year in the movie realm, starring in big-budget films such as Bullet Train alongside Brad Pitt and Marvel's Eternals in late 2021. However, the actor is also known for his time on television, starring in Atlanta as Alfred 'Paper Boi' Miles since 2016. The actor recently ended his run as the series came to a close; however, he is returning to the small screen with his next project, Sinking Spring.

"So, I'm very excited to go back to television to do Sinking Spring," Henry told Deadline. "I really want to peel back the layers of who this character is and what life is. It's an adventure, right? This whole thing is an adventure." The series revolves around two long-time friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob a house in the countryside, but end up unintentionally revealing and unraveling the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard. The project will also be released on AppleTV+ sometime next year, with Michael Mando, Kate Mulgrew, and Marin Ireland starring alongside Henry.

Fans can see Henry in the season finale of Atlanta on Hulu, fighting assassins alongside Brad Pitt in Bullet Train, or bonding with Jennifer Lawrence in Causeway, all available now.
