The second half of Batwoman’s third season has set up a lot of narratives to get through in its hiatus this week. One of the most anticipated aspects of the show’s return is the arrival of Bridget Regan’s Pamela Isley, who will be making her Poison Ivy debut in the latest episodes. Thanks to a sneak preview by TV Line, we now have our first look at Regan in full Poison Ivy rigout, and surprisingly her costume will look very familiar to her outfit in the “Arkhamverse” series of Batman-centric video games as there is a strong resemblance between the two.

"I wanted long hair, long nails, long lashes just like she's growing – she is a plant," Regan explained to TVLine. "I based everything on [the] idea that plants are better than people, and that was it. I was really drawn to her mission. I was drawn to this metamorphosis that she's gone through – her extreme commitment to that mission, how radicalized she is, how passionate she is."

The version of the character played by Regan in the show is described as a “former botany student of Gotham University described as a passionate, brilliant scientist with a mind for changing the world for the better. But her plans shifted when she was experimented on by a colleague, injected with various plant toxins, which turned her into the infamous Batman villain Poison Ivy. With a formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right, even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods. Now effectively wiped off the board for years, Batwoman and the Bat Team must prepare themselves for Poison Ivy to return with a vengeance.”

Poison Ivy Will Finally Get A Worthy Screen Appearance in Batwoman

Poison Ivy has been one of Batman’s iconic rogues’ gallery of villains for decades, but her on-screen appearances have mostly fallen a little flat with audiences, so in Batwoman, Bridget Regan can bring a worthy Poison Ivy to Gotham City and change all that.

Uma Thurman famously portrayed Ivy in the ill-fated Batman & Robin, but as many people have tried their hardest to ignore that movie’s existence in the Batman universe, her performance is somewhat tainted by the film’s reputation. Ivy featured again in the Batman prequel series Gotham, played by three separate actresses across the series, and while the character development saw her grow from a child into a woman, the series had so many characters vying for attention that in the end, she didn’t quite fulfill her potential.

In the animated Harley Quinn series, Ivy has been an integral character to the story, and while there have been rumors of a solo Poison Ivy movie, with the character at one point being included in The Batman, and word that Margot Robbie would love to do a live-action Harley Quinn/Poison Ivy film, nothing seems to have come of them so far, leaving the way open for Regan to really make an impact with her version of the plant-based villain.
