Captain Marvel star Brie Larson is the newest addition to the star-studded cast of Fast & Furious 10. Just a few weeks ago, Larson revealed that she was a huge fan of the franchise and would be more than willing to star in a Fast & Furious movie if given the opportunity. It appears her wish might be coming true earlier than expected. Vin Diesel, who plays the lead, Dominic Toretto, took to Instagram to announce Larson’s casting. Excited and overjoyed, Diesel shared a photo of him and Larson with the caption:

"Yeah yeah yeah… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self ‘That’s Captain Marvel.’ Clearly there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in ‘Fast 10.’ You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie."

Two decades since the release of the first film, the Fast saga will finally conclude with a two-part finale, the first of which, Fast & Furious 10, will be released in 2023. The film has already cast Jason Momoa as the villain, and Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, John Cena, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black, and Ludacris are all expected to reprise their roles from the previous films. The Suicide Squad breakout star, Daniela Melchior, will also star in Fast & Furious 10.

However, one actor who will be missed the most is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who publicly declined Diesel’s invitation to bury the hatchet and show up in the final two films. While they are on good terms again, Johnson has made it clear that he won’t star alongside Diesel and is instead developing a sequel to his 2019 spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw.

Fast & Furious 10 will be written by Chris Morgan and directed by Justin Lin. There is currently no word on Larson’s character, but we can assume it will be a prominent role. Perhaps a long-lost sister? Hopefully, she gets to play another spin-off worthy character. Fast & Furious 10 will hit theaters on May 19, 2023.

Brie Larson plays Captain Marvel in the MCU and recently reprised her role in the mid-credits scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film marked her first appearance in the MCU since 2019, but the delay has only added to the anticipation of her return. Larson too has promised that her next film The Marvels, will be worth the wait, even calling it "bonkers."

"I can’t say enough about how incredible our director, Nia DaCosta, is and what an honor it was to work with her, what an immense talent she is, how much I just feel like she’s the future. And I could also say that, when I read the script for the first time, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was like, this is bonkers," Larson told Uproxx recently.

The Marvels will be directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman) and will also feature Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau along with Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton, and Park Seo-joon.

The Marvels will be released on February 17, 2023.
