Focus Features' Brokeback Mountain rode off with the top prizes at the 2006 Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday. The romantic drama about two gay ranch hands was named best feature and earned Ang Lee best directing honors, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Also sharing the spotlight was Sony Pictures Classics' Capote, Lionsgate's Crash and the Weinstein Co. and IFC Films' Transamerica, which each won two awards.

The awards ceremony, organized by Film Independent, took place at a tent on the beach in Santa Monica, where it celebrated the year's best independent films.
