Avengers: Endgame star Mark Ruffalo has heaped praise on She-Hulk lead Tatiana Maslany while revealing that Bruce Banner will pass the torch to his fellow hulked-out cousin in the Disney+ series. She-Hulk will introduce audiences and the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Jennifer Walters, a lawyer who specializes in cases involving superhumans and can transform into a large, powerful, green-skinned version of herself, similar to original Avenger Bruce Banner/The Hulk, who happens to be her cousin.

“Tatiana Maslany is freaking legendary as the She-Hulk. I'm passing the banner onto her. Yeah, there's some really good, funny, cool, long, long scenes between the Professor and her. We've never really seen the Hulk interact with people the way he does in that show. It will be really interesting.”

With the MCU now 14 years in, many of the original heroes have begun to fade off into the sunset. Or die, as is the case with Tony Stark. As a result, there has been much torch-passing of late, with Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America, handing down the mantle to Sam Wilson. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Mark Ruffalo has seemingly revealed that there will be an element of this in She-Hulk also, as one Banner passes the torch onto the other, with Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk expected to become a Marvel mainstay as the franchise continues on.

While it sounds like Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner will take a step back from the Marvel world, this does not mean audiences won’t see him at all, with the character having recently appeared during a post-credits scene at the end of Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. And in human form, no less, despite the recent emergence of Professor Hulk. So, expect to see more of Bruce Banner but less of The Hulk going forward, with She-Hulk taking over the more action-orientated super-heroics while Bruce acts as an Avengers advisor.

She-Hulk Will Take a Comedic Approach to the Marvel Superhero

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known (sometimes infamously) for its comedic stylings, She-Hulk will lean into these sensibilities more than ever before. The series has been described by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige as a "half-hour legal comedy" and something that Marvel Studios has "never done before."

She-Hulk director Kat Corio, meanwhile, has said that, while she will does not "think very much about genre," she has confirmed that the series will be "playing with a more comedic world, but it also is still part of Marvel land."

Led by Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters AKA She-Hulk, the series stars Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth, Ginger Gonzaga, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Jameela Jamil. She-Hulk is expected to be released in mid-2022, and will consist of ten episodes as part of Phase Four of the MCU.

She-Hulk is just one example of a whole host of original content set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and due to debut on Disney+, including Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Ironheart, Secret Invasion, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Armor Wars, and an untitled series set in Wakanda.
