In a story from Variety DreamWorks has tapped Oscar Winning screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin (Ghost, The Time Traveler's Wife) to write Rainbow Bridge, which is the English-language remake of the 2002 Japanese film Yomigaeri.

Rainbow Bridge is based on the novel by Shinji Kajio. It focuses on a government official that is sent to a rural town when a child, who has been missing for 60 years, returns. The really interesting thing is that he hasn't aged at all.

The original writer on the project was William Nicholson.

DreamWorks had been putting together the project when the studio was on the lot at Paramount. It was one of the properties that Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider took with them when the studios parted company.
