Newly-retired actor Bruce Willis is looking great in new photos posted to Instagram by his wife, revealing the first public photos posted of the Die Hard star since the announcement of his retirement. As Willis has been consistently working on films with several upcoming films he's already finished filming currently in post-production, the news of his retirement came as a bit of a surprise. His family revealed in a statement that he was "stepping away" from Hollywood after he was diagnosed with aphasia, a neurological condition affecting speech and communication skills.

"To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him," the statement read. "This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him."

Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, has since posted a pair of photos on Instagram of the two spending some time outdoors together. She included the hashtag #offthegrid with the caption adding, "Mom & Dad in their favorite habitat." You can see the post below to see the big smile Willis has on face, clearly enjoying the family time with his acting days now behind him.

There were many of the actor's famous friends who took part in sharing memories of working with him when it was announced that he had retired. This includes former child star Haley Joel Osment who co-starred with Willis in M. Night Shyamalan's successful film The Sixth Sense. In a post shared to social media, Osment spoke about how much Willis had inspired him as well as how much Osment continues to admire him.

“It’s been difficult to find the right words for someone I’ve always looked up to—first on the big screen, and then by some wild stroke of luck, in person," Osment said. "He’s a true legend who has enriched all of our lives with a singular career that spans nearly half a century. I am so grateful for what I got to witness firsthand, and for the enormous body of work he built for us to enjoy for years and years to come. I just wanted to express the respect and deep admiration I have for Bruce and his family as they move forward with the courage and high spirits that have always defined them."

The Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan added, "All my love and respect to my big brother Bruce Willis. I know his wonderful family is surrounding him with support and strength. He will always be that hero on that poster on my wall as kid.”
