The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision Blog chatted with Bryan Singer who recently confirmed he will direct X-Men: First Class. Singer will likely shoot Jack the Giant Killer first, but he confirmed that screenwriter Jamie Moss is working on the screenplay for the next installment in the X-Men franchise.

About the plot, Singer said:

"It's secret. But it's basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto.

This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto, so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust.

But, I don't see an exhaustion. The X-Men universe is boundless. These are great characters. And as young characters, they are quite different than the characters we have seen in the contemporary movies.

Singer also describes the supposed studio skirmish about his X-Men: The Last Stand exit as "comical and exaggerated", and also says that Jack the Giant Killer will likely be his next project, possibly in 3D, as the filmmaker found Avatar inspiring.
