The classic cartoon character Bugs Bunny is coming back to the silver screen with a new live-action/CGI hybrid film project, according to Deadline New York. Warner Bros. has hired Elf screenwriter David Berenbaum to write the new film.

Not much was said about the storyline of this new film, but the last time the animated rabbit appeared on the big screen was the 2003 film Looney Tunes: Back In Action.

We reported back in May that Warner Bros. was heading up a new initiative to launch animated Looney Tunes 3D short films to be played before their theatrical films, with the first short attached to prints of Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. The second of the short films will debut in front of next month's Legend of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, due in theaters September 24, with the third to be shown before another live-action/CGI hybrid film, Yogi Bear, in theaters December 17.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details regarding a Bugs Bunny theatrical film as soon as we have more information.
