There was definitely no shortage of competition this week, but a straight-to-DVD Disney release prevailed over all. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Camp Rock prevailed as the top-selling DVD in the week ending August 24. Another Disney hit, Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert took the third spot in DVD sales.
Amongst the other newcomers, eight in all for the week, all of which cracked the top 10 in DVD sales, Street Kings was the big winnner, taking second place in DVD sales and first on the DVD rental charts. The David Ayer film beat out Prom Night, which took second place in rentals but seventh place in sales. Other top sellers were the straight-to-DVD action sequel, Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior at fourth place in sales, followed by a trio of TV sets with Dexter: The Complete Second Season in fifth place, House: Season Four in sixth place and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The Complete First Season in eighth place.
Street Kings took the top spot in Blu-Ray sales, followed by fellow newbies Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - The Complete First Season in second place and Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior in third place on the 1080p charts.
