Frank Grillo has had a banner year in genre film, with the sequel The Purge: Anarchy a bonafide hit and Captain America: The Winter Soldier becoming the second biggest movie of the year, resting only behind Marvel's other 2014 release Guardians of the Galaxy. He also has a new TV series called Kingdom about the MMA subculture, and while promoting this drama series, he revealed to Collider his upcoming Marvel plans.

Appearing for the first time as Crossbones in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the actor assures us all that he will definitely be back to battle Steve Rogers once again.

"I have a multi-contract deal with Marvel.  The movie was an origin film for that character.  If you know the comic, he has a significant presence.  So, knock wood.  With Marvel, you can't say very much, but I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll have some fun, in the next few Marvel movies."

The key here is 'next few Marvel movies'. While it hasn't been confirmed, it's most likely that Crossbones will next appear in Captain America: Civil War, which opens May 16. Crossbones plays a key role in the Civil War storyline, being the one to assassinate Steve Rogers after his Anti-Registration heroes surrendered to Iron Man and his Pro-Registration heroes. It is not yet known how closely the movie will follow the comic books, but because most of the heroes' identities are already known, there will definitely be some changes.

Captain America: Civil War is expected to wrap up Chris Evans' Captain America trilogy, with the Falcon or the Winter Soldier possible candidates to pick up the mantel in a later series of movies. Both characters have a storied history with Crossbones, so its possible that Frank Grillo will carry on as the character there.

It is also rumored that Crossbones will be one of the main villains in the upcoming standalone Black Panther movie, with Chadwick Boseman to be introduced as that character in Captain America: Civil War.
