Captain America 4 now has its official title, and fans can also put a date on the calendar for its release date. As expected, Marvel delivered at San Diego Comic-Con with tons of updates on a variety of upcoming projects. That includes their plans for Phase Five, which came with the reveal that the fourth Captain America movie is called Captain America: New World Order. The official logo for the movie has also been released along with the reveal that New World Order will hit theaters on May 3, 2024.

The film will be directed by Julius Onah using a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, who previously collaborated on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. No specific plot details have been revealed about the movie, but the film serves as a soft reboot of the Captain America movie series by putting a new protagonist in the lead. Anthony Mackie will star as Sam Wilson after becoming the new Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier after Chris Evans seemingly wrapped up his run in the role of Steve Rogers. Theoretically, Evans could always make a special appearance for a flashback sequence or similar scene, but there are no plans at this time for the actor to return to that role.

Marvel's other movies making up Phase Five are Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2/2023), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (5/2023), The Marvels (7/2023), Blade (11/2023), and Thunderbolts (7/2024). On the small screen, 2023 will bring to Disney+ the shows Secret Invasion, Echo, Loki season 2, Ironheart, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos, followed by Daredevil: Born Again in 2024.

We may not know specific plot details, but Captain America: New World Order will be similar in Rocky in some ways. That is, it follows someone who has no superpowers looking to make a difference as the new hero to wield the shield, making him an underdog fighting an uphill battle. Marvel producer Nate Moore previously explained, via Comicbook.com, how the new film could be compared to the original Rocky with Sylvester Stallone.

"I think, he's not Steve Rogers and I think that's a good thing. Because to me, this new Cap is Rocky," Moore said. "He's going to be the underdog in any situation. He's not a Super Soldier. He's not a hundred years old. He doesn't have the Avengers. What happens with this guy who announces publicly kind of, without the support, 'I'm the new Captain America.' What happens next? I think is fascinating because he's a guy. He's a guy with wings and a shield, but he is a guy."

Captain America: New World Order will be released in movie theaters on May 3, 2024, with Sam Wilson rising up to the occasion.
