Last month, Captain America: The First Avenger star Hayley Atwell revealed that she is not returning as Peggy Carter in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

That statement may have been a bit misleading, though, because now actor Stanley Tucci, who played Abraham Erksine in Captain America: The First Avenger, revealed that the actress is, in fact, coming back for a flashback cameo. He will not return, however...

"I know that Hayley is going back to do a flashback scene, but I have not been asked."

We reported earlier this month that Revenge star Emily VanCamp has landed the female lead in the sequel, although her character's identity has not been revealed. There is speculation that she may be playing Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter, who grew up hearing stories about Aunt Peggy's romance with Captain America.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Chris Evans is returning as Captain America, with new cast members Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Frank Grillo (Crossbones) joining the fold.
